The chilly temperatures earlier this month helped to form a thick layer of ice on the lake, allowing crews to cut out blocks up to 22 inches thick.

A woman was hit by a car on Seneca Street in Buffalo late Thursday afternoon. Police said no charges have been filed against the driver.
