A person whom police are calling a “person of interest” in the Main Street shootings chose the Channel 4 studios to turn himself in this afternoon. Riccardo McCray surrendered to authorities at the station’s 4 studios on Elmwood Avenue at about 2:25 p.m. He had come to Channel 4 with community activist Darnell Jackson. The station contacted Erie County D-A Frank Sedita and the Buffalo Police. McCray was then taken into custody. Authorities have not yet said what role they believe McCray might have played in the shooting spree, and it is not yet known whether he is the person believed to have fled to the Carolinas after the crime. McCray does have a criminal record. In May 2009, he was arrested with a loaded rifle in his car. And in April 2010 he faced weapons and drug charges.
