A Legal Bitch Slap on Thursday, March 18th, 2010

\Judge Skretny’s decision yesterday that the DOJ is allowed to interview inmates without county attorneys present pretty much amounts to a legal bitch slap of Erie County Attorney Cheryl Green:

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the Erie County attorney and her staff may not sit in when the U.S. Justice Department interviews the Holding Center inmates who volunteer to talk about their experiences with the jail’s mental health care and suicide-prevention screening.

As news blogger Jim Heaney points out today, Green’s batting average is a miserable .167 in this battle over the Erie County Holding Center:

Let’s see, that makes her one for six.

With that batting average — .167, for the record — she’d be headed for the minors if she was playing for the Bisons.

The low minors, at that.

It’s safe to say Cheryl Green is in over her head. And so much for those additional attorneys she hired to help  at $425 an hour. Now that is taxpayer money well spent.

To add insult to injury, in recent weeks the Erie County Comptroller and Erie County DA Frank Sedita have passed on her services, hiring their own counsel to represent them rather than having to suffer the consequences of being a client of Cheryl Green.

If I were the County Executive or the Erie County Hack Sheriff , I would be doing the same thing.

Don’t be surprised if we one last desperate attempt to stall the inevitable as the DOJ prepares to enter the holding center early next week.

I’ll leave it to Chris Tucker for the final word:
