There has been much talk about Buffalo’s Best Sushi. The best sushi in Buffalo, like all of the nicer things in life, depends on your mood and who you are with. In other words, don’t expect a completely un-biased review as I was accompanied by two of the most interesting and attractive women win Buffalo this past Saturday.
Simple Chopsticks/Decorative Plates
You may remember that Kuni’s originally was open across from Spot Coffee at 752 Elmwood, the current home to Wasabi another sushi joint. Kuni’s re-opened a take-out only location on Lexington back in November 2006. We reviewed “Kuni’s To-Go” in early 2007. The restaurant made a move for various rumored reasons of increased rent and inability to accommodate the demand.
Kuni’s is the oldest sushi restaurant in Buffalo. Because of this, you can always relax knowing that you’re getting the high quality seafood that you deserve.
Slowly since 2006, Kuni’s To-Go transformed from Take-out Only back to a full restaurant that includes beer, wine and sake.
One of the things that I personally like about Kuni’s is that it has the normal “Staples” and other more unique dishes that you can find only at Kuni’s. Eel and Avocado, Spicy Tuna and Seaweed Salad for example you can find anywhere. In comparison try to find Hot Hot Hot Fish, Squid Rings or Tofu Gyoza (Tofu dumplings) at other places.
Everything was fantastic. The food was terrific. The service was good. The bill was more than reasonable and the atmosphere was stellar. The Kuni’s of today is just like the Kuni’s of the past except that now there is a lot more room.
