Conlon's Bar & Grill recently opened their doors in South Buffalo, bringing home cooked food and wonderful refreshments to an area of the city that really appreciates it. Since he was sixteen years of age, owner Dan Conlon has wanted to own his own restaurant. In true culinary fashion he worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a dishwasher. Today he is the proprietor of a bar and grill where the atmosphere echoes food - it's a comfortable place and the people really do remember your name.
Let me first start off with the menu. Conlon's might not be the place to go if you're looking to watch your cholesterol (after all it is a bar and grill), but then again there are a couple of surprise selections for the health conscious. What we have here is mostly stick-too-you-ribs family recipes such as Conlon's "CRAZY HUGE" Loaded Potato - a large baked potato stuffed with corned beef, thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and topped with sour cream. This is a must try! Thankfully the Guinness Battered Fish Fry is served every day and the "Not Joe Mama's Mac 'N' Cheese (shell pasta baked in a creamy cheddar sauce, with bacon topped with toasted jalapeno corn bread crumbles) is as decadent as it sounds.
Another favorite menu selection is the toasted ravioli - meat ravioli, served with marinara dipping sauce. Conlon's serves local favorites (sometimes with a twist) such as chicken wings with Dan's "Special Sauce" - quickly becoming a local favorite. Then there's the Reuben and chicken sandwiches, the corned beef and cabbage (served daily), the Basket O'Ribs - Hickory Smoked, St. Louis Style Ribs served with potato and Jalapeno Corn Bread... see what I mean about the twists?
Another wonderful aspect about Conlon's is that they cater to the vegetarian and vegan diners and will alter any dish in order to accommodate. After all, everyone should be able to enjoy a good hearty meal. While enjoying a meal, vegetarians and carnivores alike can toast to the variety of beers on tap that include such standbys as Guinness, Labatt, Honker's Ale, Smithwicks and Dundee's Irish Red Lager (varieties changing seasonally). Along with draught, Conlon's offers a wide selection of bottled beer.
As if you needed one last reason to raise a glass at Conlon's the "Mug Club" is not your typical beer lovers' club. The club is designed to make you feel even more at home, with custom beer mugs, oversized fills, food specials, and other bonuses that are designed to keep the club crowd content. Throw in some good friends and you'll be happy that you logged some time in at Conlon's.
When joining the Mug Club, you get:
*A stainless steel mug, engraved with your name and member number, always there waiting for you!
*You always get 18 oz of your favorite drafts for the 16 oz price!
*Every Tuesday, from open to close, get $1 off the price of any draught!
*The first Tuesday of every month, mug club members are invited to a free appetizer buffet from 4-7!
*Mug club members get a free entree on their birthday!
*Additional mug club member events are always posted behind the bar.
Just in time for all of the upcoming Saint Patrick's Day festivities, Conlon's sentiments ring true that "In Here Everyone's Irish". Bring some friends out for a refreshing change that is immediately comfortable, satisfying and memorable. Just cozy up to the bar or grab a seat at one of the tables and let Conlon's take care of the rest.
