The Research Institute on Addictions has been in the news a little too often lately. First McCain singles out a study at RIA out as one of 100 examples of wasteful stimulis spending (unnecessary and unlikely to create many jobs).
The RIA study in question, received almost $400,000 to understand young adults’ use of malt liquor and marijuana.
Today we have a UB / Research on Addictions researcher William Fals-Stewart charged with multiple felonies.
“The charges in this case allege a pattern of lies and deceit that a public employee used to attempt to defraud New York’s taxpayers of millions of dollars,” said a statement from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Business First of Buffalo
The RIA is starting to smell like a bureaucracy with an expired shelf life. Gov. Patterson tried to cut their state funding by 50% last year. Better luck this year Gov.
