Judge Allows Federal Lawsuit; Investigators Inside Erie County Jails on Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Yesterday, U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny has ordered Erie County  to allow Justice Department investigators two days to determine whether changes can be made to prevent more inmates from committing suicide. Skretny also rejected the county’s request to throw out the Justice Department’s lawsuit, which alleges widespread civil rights violations in the county’s two jails.
