Many Set to Lose Day Care Subsidies on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

As working parents who qualify for day care subsidies lose them, they will have a very sad choice to make, oftentimes involving the need to go on full welfare in order to be able to stay at home.  A march was held yesterday, culminating in a rally on the steps of the Rath Building.

While County Executive Collins did not deign to meet with or address the assembled rabble, he did issue a statement blaming Albany, accepting no responsibility or ownership for his decision.

The Erie County Legislature voted unanimously to keep the eligibility criteria at current levels for another 90 days.

This doesn’t have to happen.  This is a failure of leadership and priorities.
