Regional Pizza on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

We know our pizza in Western New York, and Don Barton and his partner "Shrew" aim to get to know it better, endeavoring to eat their way through the 701 Buffalo area telephone book listings of pizza parlors in the 716.

Barton and Shrew have created a blog, pizzaclub716.com, where they will document and critique each of the pizzas they sample, and Barton says they're eating their way through the list as fast as they can.  "Everyone has a favorite pizza place," Barton says, "and the question of which is best is often a source of much debate.  I feel this subject is close to the heart of many Western New Yorkers."  Both Barton and Shrew have spent "considerable time working in pizzerias."

Right now, the boys are aiming for 2 large pizzas per week, which they say runs them around $40.  It sounds like they could use some guest commentary, but then, here in WNY, we know that opinions about pizza are as varied as the people eating it.

Check out their blog, which is pretty darn amusing, and maybe you'll want to email them a suggestion or two about where they should go next.
