The Right Prescription on Thursday, March 18th, 2010

The independent Congressional Budget Office confirmed that the health care legislation to be voted on this weekend will make the largest reduction of the deficit in 17 years.

Today we received good news from the Congressional Budget Office when they confirmed that the health care bill we intend to pass this weekend will reduce the deficit by $130 billion over the next decade, and $1.2 trillion in the second ten years.

As much as this effort will provide health care to millions of Americans that need it the most and finally regulate the insurance companies, this is also about the financial security of our nation. This is the right prescription for our economy.

We need to think about the economic benefits of this important reform, not just as a cost savings for our country, but also realize that this will help small business and let them create jobs. There are more than 12,000 small businesses in my district that will qualify for a tax credit when they provide health insurance to their employees. We want to help those small businesses and give their workers the health care they deserve.

This afternoon the full text of the health care bill was posted online. It is available at www.louise.house.gov.

Also available is a breakdown of how health care reform will help the 28th district.

My Last Word on Bass Pro on 7.30 at 9:52 pm

Let me start with a self congratulation. I was right. Bass Pro has not been coming for some time. They simply made it official today.
But Congressman Brian Higgins was wrong, when he says they never were coming. He’s wrong because we’ll never know, because CBA peddlers, lawsuit artists, professional obstructionists and Buffalo Common Council gave [...]
