The Tweed Ride on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Now that the weather is warming up, it's time to get your best tweeds out of the closet. OK, maybe it's time to get your only tweeds out of the closet. Or scrap both those ideas and instead head off to a Salvation Armani location in search of some castaways by generations gone by. In the end, a tweed look is a tweed look, and that's all you're expected to wear on the upcoming Tweed Ride - a Rides of Spring cycling journey hosted by The Buffalo Lazy Randanneur Club.

The Tweed Ride will begin at the Naval Park on Sunday March 21st at 1pm and will end at the uber bike friendly Essex Street Pub. Seeing that the ride is not that far off, it's still going to be cool. That means that the group is stressing that riders sport their woolens. And what do woolens go well with? Cruisers! They also go well with fixed gears. Or even a banana bike for that matter.

According to the group's Facebook event page, there are 26 riders partaking in the cruise. I'm sure that there will be many more by the time the ride is upon us. It looks like the path will lead along the water, to the Scajaquada Trail, around Delaware Park, up Lincoln to Bidwell and onwards and upwards to the pub. There may be prizes awarded for get-ups, bikes and poetry - that means that you should come prepared for some laughs, a good ride and some frosty brews to follow.
